Job Description

We are currently hiring a Director of Quality to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business to lead quality decision-making and strategy formulation. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our quality strategies and ensuring that our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards, while also contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional products to our soldiers. The Director will be responsible for leading and developing a comprehensive quality management system that ensures the highest standards of product quality and compliance with government regulations and standards. This role requires an individual with a robust quality assurance background and a proven track record in quality management.
The position can be based out of York, PA or Anniston, AL.
This is a Hybrid role where you will work onsite 3-4 days each week.
The role will require 25% of travel to manufacturing sites and customer locations for audits, inspections, and training.
Responsibilities:
Quality Leadership
Quality Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy that aligns with organizational goals and quality standards.
Quality Management System: Establish and maintain a quality management system that meets or exceeds government regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, DFARS).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of quality initiatives.
Team Management
Team Leadership: Lead a team of quality professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities to ensure the team is equipped to meet quality objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee hiring, performance management, and professional development of team members, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and resources to succeed.
Decision-Making Authority
Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Manage budget and resources for quality initiatives, making decisions on allocation and prioritization of resources to ensure effective implementation of quality strategies.
Approval of Quality-Related Initiatives: Approve and oversee the implementation of quality-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and quality standards.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
Quality Management Integration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that quality efforts enhance product quality and comply with government regulations and standards.
Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action: Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for quality-related issues.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all processes meet applicable regulatory requirements and standards, preparing the organization for audits and inspections.
Change Management
Change Management Methodologies: Utilize experience with change management methodologies to effectively communicate and manage changes to quality processes and systems.
Change Communication: Develop and implement communication plans to ensure stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the change process.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Culture of Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employees to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes that enhance quality and efficiency.
Process Improvements: Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to implement changes that enhance quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Training and Development
Employee Engagement: Develop training programs and workshops to promote a culture of quality awareness among employees.
Mentorship and Coaching: Mentor and coach team members on quality management techniques and best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaboration with Other Teams: Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to foster a holistic approach to quality that encompasses the entire value chain.
Cross-Department Liaison: Act as a liaison between departments to facilitate communication and collaboration on quality initiatives.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Performance Monitoring: Analyze operational data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.
Reporting: Prepare and present reports on quality initiatives, outcomes, and overall impact to senior leadership.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Business Administration, or a related field and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Experience in Quality Management, leading quality strategy development and execution
Experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS), including developing, improving, and maturing quality processes
Experience in Manufacturing/Production environments
Experience in Defense (DoD) Contracting or highly regulated manufacturing environments
Experience in Program/Project Management, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines
Experience in People Management/Leadership, developing critical skills and capabilities across the quality function
Experience in Cross-functional Leadership, fostering a collaborative work environment
Experience in Change Management, driving continuous and process improvement
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with abilities to influence decision-making and gain buy-in
Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines
Strong analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and problem resolution
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information effectively to diverse audiences
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Advanced Degree in Quality
Certifications in Quality Management (e.g., CQE, CQM)
Black Belt Certification in Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement field
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $154815 - $263185
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
