Job Description:

As a Data Scientist, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). You will play a crucial role in support of the Chronic Conditions Warehouse (CCW) and Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC).

HOW A DATA SCIENTIST WILLMAKE AN IMPACT:

Assist with converting SAS code to Python.

Performs data collection, analysis, and interpretation duties.

Develops rules and methodologies for data collection and analysis.

Ensures the integrity of project data, including data extraction, storage, manipulation, processing and analysis.

Conducts data quality and detailed validation of data sets.

Consults with the external clients and internal staff to determine data management needs and objectives.

Prepares presentations that reflect the results of the data analysis.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

Participates in special projects as required.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Bachelor of Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

5+ years of related experience

Strong hands on experience in ETL processing, data analysis, and scripting languages, particularly Python & a Linux scripting language like bash, ksh, etc.

Strong understanding of data integration and management principles.

Proficiency in various in-house ETL tools like SnowSQL, Databricks & database technologies (Snowflake, Delta).

Good independent problem solving abilities and communication skills.

Experience in designing and building ETL pipelines, managing data integration, and transforming data with cloud data architectures (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, S3, Linux disk).

Experience working with database related Python API modules .

Skilled at process optimization and data quality improvement.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Some SAS experience is nice, but only in aid of converting SAS code to Python.

The likely salary range for this position is $97,750 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee's date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
