Function of Position:
Adjunct faculty prepare and teach courses in the department, develop new educational materials, and assist with the assessment of student learning, as appropriate. Classes may be assigned at the Brighton Campus, or in an online, remote, or hybrid modality, as needed. Adjunct faculty report to the chairperson of the Information and Computer Technologies Department. The successful candidate will bring a passion for teaching and a desire to support and mentor MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals.
This position is looking specifically for adjuncts who can teach courses in computer networking and cybersecurity. Responsibilities include delivering instruction in areas such as network architecture, IP addressing, routing protocols, enterprise network configuration, and troubleshooting. The position also involves teaching core security topics including risk assessment, intrusion detection and prevention, perimeter security, cryptography, incident response, and policy development. Additional courses may cover cloud security, digital forensics, SOC operations, and emerging technologies such as network automation and virtualization.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates and maintains current subject area knowledge.
Teaches courses and evaluates student performance in Information and Computer Technologies as per guidelines set by the department and Monroe Community College.
Teaches course(s)/section(s), as outlined by the contract and as available.
Prepares lesson plans and creates instructional materials and activities for student engagement.
Prepares Course Information Sheet/Syllabus/Outlines in accordance with department and College guidelines.
Establishes and maintains an engaging and supportive classroom environment.
Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other records according to department and College guidelines and submits them in a timely manner.
Assists department with student retention and completion initiatives.
Develops innovative teaching pedagogies to facilitate learning.
Incorporates high-impact teaching practices into course design, as appropriate.
Actively engages in pedagogical and academic discipline professional development.
Demonstrates excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize workflow.
Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the department chair, as appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must have either:
(A) Earned bachelor's degree in an IT/Networking/Cybersecurity (or related) field from a regionally accredited higher education institution;
(B) Earned associate's degree in an IT/Networking/Cybersecurity (or related) field from a regionally accredited higher education institution AND CCNA certification AND at least 2 years of experience in a networking or cybersecurity field;
(C) Earned associate's degree in an IT/Networking/Cybersecurity (or related) field from a regionally accredited higher education institution AND at least 5 years of experience in an information technology, networking or cybersecurity field.

Preferred Qualifications:
Earned master's degree in an IT/Networking/Cybersecurity (or related) field from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
Industry certifications in networking and cybersecurity, such as CCNA or higher, CompTIA Network+, Security+, EC-Council Ethical Hacking, etc.
Experience teaching using a learning management system such as Brightspace/D2L, BlackBoard, Canvas, or Moodle.
Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies.
Experience with computerized student record management.
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
Additional Information:
Pay Rate for Fall 2025 & Spring 2026: Determined on adjunct rank and ranges from $1,217- $1,484  per contact hour.
