Duties Description Are you interested in starting or advancing your career with New York State? Do you have experience working in a mailroom or warehouse? Office Assistant 2 Stores/Mail positions provide excellent opportunities for advancement and growth. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.As an Office Assistant 2 Stores/Mail, you will perform a wide variety of complex clerical and administrative support activities, including:- Receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail and supplies/goods- Packaging and processing outgoing mail- Maintaining files and records- Performing physical inventory- Keeping work area neat and clean

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as an Office Assistant 2 Stores/Mail if they have 1 year of experience where most work time is spent performing activities related to mail receipt, mail distribution, storage, and/or stores keeping.ORCandidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Office Assistant 2 Stores/Mail eligible list.ORCandidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.ORIn accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Office Assistant 2 Stores/Mail at New York State Psychiatric Institute. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position's minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.The promotion field for the Office Assistant 2 Store/Mail position consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as an Office Assistant 1 including all language parenthetics.
