Responsibilities
The Position:
The Accountant III is a multifaceted role that combines technical expertise with a commitment to process improvement. It plays a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting team.
Technical Accounting Guidance: Accountant III is expected to provide technical accounting guidance to the other accountants and make decisions in accordance with accounting standards like JSOX, GAAP, and IFRS. Accountant III can independently research technical accounting topics he/she is not familiar with. Providing guidance in these areas is crucial to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
Process Improvement: The team is committed to continuous improvement. Accountant III will be involved in identifying and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in accounting processes. Accountant III is responsible to lead and oversee the initiative progress and provide guidance to the various stakeholders.
Journal Entries and Reconciliations: Accountant III will be responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations. This is fundamental to maintaining accurate financial records.
Financial Reporting: This includes domestic and international Financial Reporting. Accountant III will assist maintaining the accounting records of our international subsidiaries / branches, including compiling their financial statements.
Accountant III will also need to work with auditors in these foreign locations.
Technical Accounting
Perform technical accounting tasks and collaborate with the Senior Manager to draft detailed accounting memos as needed, covering a broad range of topics such as impairment, leases, software, etc.
Monitor new GAAP/IFRS releases and assist in the implementation of new required accounting standards if necessary.
Regularly collaborate with team members to identify, research, and resolve accounting-related questions and non-routine matters.
Assist with special projects, including regulatory and other ad hoc assignments.
Journal Entries and Reconciliation
Prepare journal entries with detailed support in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
Manage our leases in the CoStar database tool.
While preparing reconciliations, review account balances critically to assess their validity and ensure correct accounting treatment.
Controls and Audit Support
Understand company policies and internal controls and ensure their consistent application.
Provide support for both internal and external audit requests.
Assist in remediation efforts related to audit findings.
Analyze and review risk factors to ensure effective controls are in place to mitigate any weaknesses.
International Subsidiary / Branch Accounting and Financial Reporting
Maintain the accounting for our International subsidiaries and branches, additionally compile financial statements from the accounting records.
Liaise with local auditors to complete the audits of financial statements.
Month-end Close Process
Assist in general ledger closing activities, including the Oracle close process.
Prepare journal entries prior to the close to ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and company policies.
The salary range of $76,000 - $127,000 is just one component of Panasonic's total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual's knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
5-8 years accounting experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Big 4 experience preferred.
Oracle experience preferred.
Ability to apply professional guidance, such as GAAP and IFRS, and adhere to company policies and procedures to resolve various issues.
Possess an analytical mindset and the ability to identify areas of improvement and proactively resolve issues.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), Word, and the use of ERP system.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and collaborate as a team player.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude towards interacting with colleagues at all levels.
Able to work independently and effectively communicate with all finance and accounting staff and other stakeholders.
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to domestic and international locations.

Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
