Accountant/Business Office Manager

The Accountant/Business Office Manager is responsible for the day-to-day
financial operations, employee benefits administration, and office
management of the One SouthCoast Chamber. This role ensures the accurate
and timely processing of financial transactions, payroll, and compliance
reporting, while supporting strategic planning and budgeting initiatives
in partnership with the CEO. The Accountant/Business Office Manager also
provides oversight of administrative operations, vendor management, and
serves as a key resource for organizational efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management ? Collaborate with the CEO to
develop and manage the annual organizational budget. ? Oversee all
accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, bank
reconciliations, and financial reporting. ? Prepare monthly and year-end
financial statements in accordance with GAAP. ? Manage cash flow
planning and forecasting in coordination with the CEO. ? Maintain and
monitor financial software systems (e.g., QuickBooks, ChamberMaster) and
work with IT vendors as needed. ? Prepare documentation and support
materials for the annual financial audit or review. ? Ensure accurate
and timely event/program billing, sponsorship invoicing, and revenue
tracking. Payroll & Benefits Administration ? Process biweekly payroll
in collaboration with payroll service providers. ? Administer all
employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability
insurance, 401K, PTO). ? Serve as liaison with benefit carriers and
ensure timely funding and compliance with applicable regulations. ?
Maintain accurate employee records and respond to related inquiries.
Office & Vendor Management ? Approve or deny staff expenditures in the
absence of the CEO. ? Manage vendor relationships and contracts,
ensuring quality service and cost- effectiveness. ? Coordinate reporting
and compliance for grants, partnerships, and external entities (e.g.,
SMCVB, One SouthCoast Chamber Foundation). ? Support the CEO and other
staff with office systems, administrative needs, and general operations
oversight. Event & Program Support ? Work with events staff to establish
and manage event fee structures. ? Monitor financial performance of
events and programs; oversee invoicing and collections. ? Provide
post-event financial reporting and reconciliation. Compliance & Controls
? Ensure all financial practices are compliant with organizational
policies and accounting standards. ? Develop and maintain internal
controls and financial procedures to safeguard assets. ? Identify and
implement process improvements for increased accuracy, efficiency, and
transparency. Required Qualifications ? Associates degree in Accounting,
Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent
work experience considered. ? Minimum 2-4 years of experience in
financial management or a similar role. ? Proficient in QuickBooks and
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). ? Familiarity with
benefits administration platforms and databases (e.g., ChamberMaster or
equivalent). ? Strong working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit finance
(preferred). ? Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving
skills. ? Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with
internal and external stakeholders. ? High level of discretion,
integrity, and confidentiality. This position is in-person, split
between two locations: Fall River and New Bedford. ? Regular business
hours with occasional early morning, evening, or weekend commitments
based on events and programming needs.
