Job Description:
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Operations Center (SOC) Engineer to join our dynamic Cybersecurity team. As a SOC Engineer you will play a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security threats and incidents to protect infrastructure and client environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, experience with SIEM tools, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a SOC Cybersecurity Engineer Principal, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the government customer.
Responsibilities:
Incident Monitoring & Response: Continuously monitor security events from various sources including SIEM, intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, and other security devices. Analyze and respond to security incidents in real-time.
Threat Detection & Investigation: Leverage advanced tools and techniques to identify potential threats, conduct in-depth investigations, and provide accurate analysis of security incidents.
Escalation & Reporting: Document and escalate security incidents following predefined protocols. Provide detailed analysis and reports to senior security staff and leadership.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other security teams, IT, and engineering groups to ensure a coordinated response to security incidents.
Security Improvements: Identify areas for improvement in security processes, assist with implementing security best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement of the SOC.
Incident Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, investigations, and resolutions. Develop and update incident response playbooks and documentation.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a Security Operations Center or in a cybersecurity role.
Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, IBM QRadar, or ArcSight.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including network security, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management.
Familiarity with incident response processes and techniques, as well as knowledge of NIST security frameworks.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
At least one relevant certification: CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CISSP, CEH, CISM, CASP, GSEC, or GCIH.
Security Clearance Level: Top Secret (SCI eligible)
US Citizenship required by Government customer.
Work is onsite at customer facility
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with advanced threat detection, indicators of compromise, attack frameworks and incident response methodologies.
Experience with threat intelligence, malware analysis, threat hunting.
Experience with vulnerability management tools and techniques.
Experience with endpoint security products.
Experience with cloud security (VMWare Cloud Foundations).
Experience with Zero Trust architecture and principles.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus.

The likely salary range for this position is $127,254 - $169,050. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
