JOB SUMMARY: The Permit Engineer is responsible for the daily coordination of Building Permit, Electrical Permit, and other required permit application submittals. The Permit Engineer will coordinate permit related activities between Municipalities, Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers. The Permit Engineer will oversee the activities of the Permit Designers to ensure that permit drawings are created in a timely manner and meet local codes and customer specifications. The Permit Engineer is a technical authority with respect to applicable codes and regulations and will provide guidance to Systems, Principal, and Project Engineers with respect to code related issues. The Permit Engineer will be involved throughout the life cycle of projects from permit application submittal to closeout inspections and receipt of Certificate of Occupancy.RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversees daily permit related activities with respect to assigned projects. Coordinates between Municipalities, Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Systems Engineers, Structural Engineers, and Designers. Oversees the work of Permit Designers to ensure permit drawings are complete, accurate, and code compliant.Develops, prepares and/or reviews permit application submittals.Coordinates and consults with municipalities to ensure receipt of all permits. Work with AutoCAD as needed to develop permit drawings. Performs inspections of systems and structures during construction. Coordinates Building and Electrical inspections for project closeout and receipt of Certificate of Occupancy.Liaise with relevant professional staff such as architects, external PE's, general contractors, and customersWork with the department manager to evaluate existing engineering processes and program activities to make recommendations for improvements in policy and procedures.And other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Preferred Experience with building codes, permit requirements, and inspection activities.Possess the Ability to review 3D models.Possess the Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing environment.Possess the ability to communicate and collaborate with others.Possess the ability to lead and teach others by both instruction and as a role model.Possess the ability to travel as required.Education and Experience:Engineering or construction related bachelor's degree preferred + minimum 5 years of experience. Licensed Professional Engineer in at least one state OR the ability to obtain a license preferred.Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment.
