Harborview Medical Center's Hand, Foot, & Ankle Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a Orthopedic Technician.
WORK SCHEDULE:
100% FTE, 40 hours weekly
Day Shift, Mon-Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Located in the Ninth & Jefferson building across from Harborview Medical Center, the Foot & Ankle Center at Harborview provides consultation and surgical treatment for complex foot and ankle reconstruction, including arthritis, deformities, genetic anomalies, sports injuries and traumatic injury. We also offer podiatry services and non-surgical treatments.
The Hand, Elbow & Shoulder Center treats complex injuries and musculoskeletal, peripheral nerve and skin conditions. Our board-certified, experienced orthopedic and plastic surgeons, rehabilitation medicine physicians and physical and occupational therapists work hard to return patients to full function and to get you back to enjoying the activities you love.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist physician with complex casting, arthroscopic procedures, pin replacement/removal, and external fixator removal
Monitor patient's condition following casting; recognize emergent/urgent problems and provide telephone triage for patients with cast problems
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Order Durable Medical Supplies (DME) and maintain inventory and stock per established clinic protocols
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
Act as a liaison between patient, patient's family and providers
Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
Ensure a signed physician order is completed before submitting the patient for an x-ray, remove and apply casts and/or splints, remove sutures as per established clinic orders
Assist in transporting patients as required
REQUIREMENTS:
Certification through the National Association of Orthopedic Technologists (NAOT) or Registered Orthopedic Technologist certification through the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP) OR
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) and two years of direct patient care experienceOR
equivalent education/experience AND
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
