Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Lake Charles, Louisiana. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing vendor invoices, payments, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring smooth and efficient accounts payable operations.

Responsibilities:

Accurately code invoices and ensure proper account classification.

Process vendor invoices for payment, including electronic payments and check runs.

Manage weekly check requests and ensure timely delivery of payments.

Handle purchase orders and reconcile them with invoices.

Maintain detailed and organized vendor files to support auditing and reporting needs.

Prepare and mail checks in accordance with established payment schedules.

Execute Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions and other electronic payments.

Monitor and resolve discrepancies in accounts payable records.

Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures during all payment processes.

Assist with periodic reporting and reconciliation tasks. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable functions, including invoice coding and payment processing.

Strong knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions and electronic payment methods.

Familiarity with handling purchase orders and maintaining vendor files.

Ability to process weekly check runs and manage check requests efficiently.

Excellent organizational skills to ensure accurate record-keeping and timely payments.

Proficiency in financial software and tools related to accounts payable.

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to address discrepancies.

Strong understanding of financial policies and compliance requirements.
