Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.
We are seeking a visionary and execution-focused AI Innovation Lead / Product Owner to drive the strategic development and adoption of AI-powered capabilities across the Workday ecosystem.
This role blends product ownership, innovation leadership, and stakeholder engagement to deliver intelligent, responsible, and high-impact solutions that transform enterprise workflows. The ideal candidate
will bring a player/coach mindset with developer experience to do peer reviews on build work while focused on development of technical acumen amongst peers and partners.
Responsibilities
Define AI Strategy: Shape and communicate a clear roadmap for AI-driven enhancements within Workday, including Illuminate, Extend, and Orchestrate.
Lead Product Development: Own the lifecycle of AI features and extensions-from ideation and prioritization to delivery and iteration.
Drive Innovation: Champion experimentation with generative AI, agentic workflows, and automation use cases across HR, Finance, and Operations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business leaders, developers, and end users to gather feedback, validate solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise goals.
Governance & Ethics: Establish and promote responsible AI practices, including transparency, bias mitigation, and data privacy compliance.
Enablement & Adoption: Develop training, documentation, and change management strategies to accelerate AI literacy and usage across teams.
Measure Impact: Define KPIs and success metrics for AI initiatives, and report on adoption, ROI, and business outcomes.
Qualifications
Workday Ecosystem Knowledge: Familiarity with Workday Illuminate, Extend, Orchestrate, and integration capabilities preferred.
AI & Automation Expertise: Understanding of generative AI, LLMs, intelligent agents, and automation frameworks preferred.
Product Ownership: Experience managing product roadmaps, backlogs, and agile delivery cycles preferred.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate enterprise goals into actionable AI initiatives preferred.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven success working with HR, Finance, IT, and engineering teams preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong ability to influence, present, and engage both technical and non-technical audiences preferred.
Governance Awareness: Knowledge of responsible AI principles, data ethics, and compliance frameworks preferred.
Experience with Workday AI features and developer tools preferred.
Background in enterprise software product management or innovation leadership preferred.
Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and Design Thinking methodologies preferred.
Exposure to enterprise data platforms, ML pipelines, or cloud-native architectures preferred.
Workday Extend for custom app dev & API Integration preferred.
WD Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors preferred.
REST and SOAP APIs preferred.
XML, JSON, SXLT preferred.
Design/Build custom AI Agents using WD Build preferred.
Create AI-powered apps with Workday Extend preferred.
Leverage expanded AI Gateway APIs to imbed WD AI services preferred.

Anticipated salary range: $123,400 - $176,300
