Responsibilities
The Chief Financial Officer - Ministry Market provides executive-level management of financial resources, strategic planning, and development of the Finance organization. The CFO is responsible for stewardship and safeguarding the organization's assets. This includes complying with defined elements of the financial integrity program. In alignment with Ascension's strategic plan, the CFO drives collective responsibility for business operations and sound financial management. Formulates and oversees the organization's financial planning, policies, and practices in collaboration with executive leadership.
Core Responsibilities:
Serves as a member of the Market leadership team and participates in the development and execution of the organization's vision, policies, and short/long-term objectives.
In alignment with the Ascension strategic plan, collaborates with executive leadership to generate and execute business strategies that improve overall performance metrics, specifically focused on financial performance, quality, and consumer experience.
Uses data-driven approaches to allocate resources and elevate the organization's financial performance and goals.
Assist Ministry Market Executive in the development of long and short-range Market operations plans which may include service demand analyses, resource availability analyses, productivity, and cost-benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions. Recommends strategies based on financial, accounting, and industry trends.
Partners with national and local key stakeholders to lead growth initiatives and proforma development including tracking and monitoring the performance of initiatives to ensure achievement.
Forecast the impact of business decisions and expected financial results.
Responsible for financial and economic information to identify trends and indicators that may impact business operations, planning, and investments.
Engages for impact to bring national and local key stakeholders (physicians, clinical/non-clinical leadership) together to drive results, focusing on the revenue cycle process, management of expenses, and financial goal management.
In alignment with national and local key stakeholders, review contracts, purchase agreements, and other financial arrangements to ensure compatibility with business goals and expectations about profitability. Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
Serves as a liaison on financial matters among the Board of Directors, executive leadership, and management.
Responsible for financial forecasts and performance against targets in collaboration with national and local key stakeholders in Financial Planning & Analytics.
Identify and report undesirable trends and potential business opportunities and make recommendations for action.
In alignment with national and local key stakeholders for Labor Management, leads facility productivity reviews and education in partnership with the COO and MME.
Communicate financial operational performance with stakeholders, including Hospital administration, appropriate facility staff members, and Ministry Market Executives.
In partnership with key national and local stakeholders within Case Management, leads throughput initiatives.
In partnership with national and local key stakeholders, leads denial and appeal management reviews with the multidisciplinary team.
In alignment with national and local key stakeholders, leads local charge capture reviews and revenue integrity efforts.
Responsible for ensuring alignment with national business partners across strategy, labor, case management, etc.
CFO will have Market leadership responsibility for Reimbursement, Managed Care, Revenue Cycle, Registration, Health Information, Supply Chain, Case Management, and Utilization Review.

Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree with 10 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 5 of those years being in leadership/management.
Additional Preferences
Master's degree is accounting or business administration is preferred.
