Akamai's Netstats Engineering team is responsible for building/maintaining the large-scale data infrastructure that powers critical business insights/operational analytics across Akamai's global network. We design, process, and deliver data systems that handle trillions of records and terabytes of data, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and performance for downstream analytics and decision-making.

In this role, you will design/develop data pipelines in Python/Airflow, model/optimize data flows, and process large-scale datasets using open-source/enterprise technologies. You'll work in Unix/Linux environmentsdeveloping and automating data processing workflows.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, Airflow, and Akamai's internal data frameworks.

Processing and transforming large-scale datasets (TBs of data) to enable high-quality analytics and reporting.

Developing and optimizing data models to support business-critical applications and dashboards.

Writing efficient, scalable, and reusable code following software engineering best practices.

Utilizing Unix/Linux environments for data automation, scripting, and system-level debugging.

Collaborating with cross-functional teamsincluding data science, operations, and financeto ensure data accuracy and availability.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical field

Demonstrate proficiency in Python, including object-oriented programming and scripting

Have an excellent understanding of SQL and data modeling (star/snowflake schema, normalization, partitioning)

Demonstrate familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and workflow orchestration

Have experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting, process automation, and basic system utilities (e.g., grep, awk, cron, ssh)

Have excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $68,900 - $143,100/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
