The Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Suicide Prevention Program (SPP) seeks to reduce the incidence of suicidal ideation, attempts, and deaths across the Commonwealth through a comprehensive public health framework. SPP oversees the MA 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline network; a 24/7/365 call/chat/text service that provides free, anonymous, and confidential support to those in emotional distress and/or experiencing suicidality. The Suicide Prevention Program has been awarded a 988 State Improvement Grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and is seeking a 988 Lifeline Coordinator (988 Grant PD) that will be responsible for ensuring the overall success of the project while overseeing the day-to-day implementation of this three-year project. The 988 Lifeline Coordinator will work closely with the Suicide Prevention Program Director/Grant PI and other program staff supporting this initiative and grant partners including service providers, evaluators, federal funders and administrators, to ensure federal grant requirements are met; provide technical assistance to vendors and ensure compliance with state, federal, accrediting bodies, and national administrator's standards, policies, and practices; participate in reporting activities and data collection, analysis, and quality improvement processes; supervise professional level staff; apply a racial equity lens to their work; serve as a program liaison; and perform related work as required. This is a grant funded position that ends on September 29, 2026. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Coordinates and monitors project and grant activities to ensure effective operations and compliance with project work plan and grant requirements. Oversees current 988 contact center contracts, ensuring fiscal and programmatic compliance and success. Supports procurement activity and resulting contracts related to professional consultants, network administration, technology, infrastructure, and/or response for phone, chat, and text. Oversees regular data collection and reporting activities of vendors; provides training and support on collection and reporting methods; conducts basic data analysis in support of reports, partner communications, and public records requests. Prepares meeting agendas and reports related to grant activities and deliverables. Provides technical assistance to vendors regarding programmatic activities related to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and delivery of service and support to consumers. Applies a continuous quality improvement framework and supports vendors adoption of CQI approach to the ongoing development and maturation of the network. Maintains familiarity and awareness of the statewide and national landscape of the 988 Lifeline and related crisis service continuum components. Participates and attends in related meetings, trainings, and webinars as project representative and to stay abreast of ongoing changes, upgrades, and updates. Develops, maintains, and updates network policies and procedures; trainings; and job aides supportive of network-wide implementation and operationalization across contracted contact centers. Works in partnership with other state agencies and community-based organizations along the crisis service continuum to support seamless connection and transition between levels and @types of care that support the "no-wrong door" and community-based, person-centric values of the statewide behavioral health landscape. Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of supervision. Ability to coordinate the efforts of others in accomplishing assigned work objectives. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Experience in behavioral health, public health, or related field. Experience with federal grants management. Knowledge of and experience overseeing the implementation of suicide prevention principles and best practices into funded programs. Familiarity with national, state, and local suicide prevention services, resources, and programs. Understanding of social determinants of health and a commitment to health equity, particularly racial equity, and racial justice. Strong project management skills, ability to self-direct and motivate partners to complete projects with integrity by established deadlines.
