The Family and Community Engagement Supervisor is a strategic leadership role at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), responsible for advancing the statewide implementation of the Family and Community Engagement Model to Support Schools across Minnesota's PreK-12 education system. This position demands visionary leadership, cross-agency collaboration, and a strong commitment to equity-driven, community-centered outreach and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Strategic Oversight: Guide a team providing statewide engagement, support, and capacity-building for effective family and community engagement.
Program Oversight: Monitor compliance for the Minnesota Youth Council Grant and administer Statewide Enrollment programs.
Public Communication & Outreach: Develop and disseminate clear, timely, and accurate public information materials to increase transparency and community involvement.
Community Engagement: Direct efforts to engage directly with families and communities; coordinate initiatives across divisions to ensure cohesive engagement efforts; and build public awareness of agency programs and services.
Stakeholder Relations: Serve as a primary contact for inquiries from external partners, ensuring responsive and effective communication.
Minimum Qualifications

Five (5) years of professional experience within a supervisory role, lead worker, or leadership experience which include hiring and onboarding staff, managing budgets, and conducting performance evaluations.
Experience must include:
Managed departmental budgets and resource allocation, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals.
Designed and led district-wide family and community engagement programs, serving diverse populations across grade levels.
Oversaw all aspects of program planning, facilitation, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with educational standards and equity goals.
Recruited, trained, and supported a robust network of community volunteers, enhancing program reach and effectiveness.
Collaborated cross-functionally with school administrators, families, and community partners to build inclusive, high-impact initiatives.
OR
A master's degree in educational or related field may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor's degree in educational or related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience with four (4) years of professional experience with large-scale assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experienced in supporting the development and implementation of school/district language access plans, with a proven ability to engage effectively with communities from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. Skilled at translating complex information into accessible, meaningful communication for a wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrated success in managing projects and budgets, supervising staff, conducting performance evaluations, and providing clear, actionable feedback to foster professional growth and team development.
