Description
A Data Center Electrical Critical Facilities Engineer is a crucial professional responsible for optimizing and maintaining the electrical systems that ensure data centers operate reliably and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Act as the onsite technical expert for electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, focusing on hands-on field operations
Conduct or oversee hands-on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipment
Plan resource, author, or approve operations procedures for electricl repair, retrofit, and maintenance, emphasizing risk mitigation
Coordinate across teams to implement organizational initiatives, processes and maintenance strategies in alignment with standards
Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) oversight for construction projects and maintenance activities
Supervise asset age and health, and create predictive plans and procedures for replacement or refurbishment to prevent failures and/or reduce downtime
Contribute to the electrical safety program, training, procedural development/review and incident response
Lead and/or participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify electrical equipment failures, and develop effective Remediation Plans to address and resolve issues
Propose data center upgrades to enhance efficiency, capacity, and reliability
Produce technical reports with recommendations to mitigate availability risks
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or equivalent vocational achievements and practical experience.
5+ years of practical experience in electrical engineering or operations within a data center or similar critical operations environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
Comprehensive understanding of data center infrastructure.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
7+ years of hands-on field experience in electrical engineering, specifically within data center or similar environments.
Proven experience in the design and implementation of electrical systems tailored for sophisticated data centers.
In-depth knowledge of backup power systems, including UPS, generators, and battery systems, and experience with parallel and distribution systems.
Experience using simulation tools and software such as ETAP or SKM.
Proficiency in engineering software, including AutoCAD, Revit, SKM Systems Analysis.
Outstanding problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Capability to work independently while also thriving as a member of a cross-functional team
