Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
*A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to two days remote work per week (if applicable)
Salary Range : Hourly from $23.98 to $34.69; Annually from $50,070 to $72,433
Salary placement is dependent on education and experience

THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT
The Upward Bound Advisor is responsible for providing services and activities, within the scope of the Normandale Upward Bound grant, to students at Richfield, Shakopee, Southwest, and Washburn and/or Kennedy high schools, to enable them achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
This position will actively advance the college's strategic goals, including achieving equity in educational outcomes and supporting a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, social work, or a related field AND at least one year of experience working with disadvantaged youth OR Bachelor's degree in any field AND at least two years of experience working with disadvantaged youth
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for which we will interview:
Social skills sufficient to empower and connect with participants in one-on-one interactions and when giving presentations
Ability to build and conduct engaging presentations tailored to specific audiences, particularly but not limited to high school students ages 15-19
Preferred:
Teaching license and/or teaching experience
Math and/or science background
Previous experience in Upward Bound or other college access program
Knowledge of financial aid, college, and career information and advising strategies
Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish
