Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Usability Manager. The MHS is responsible for providing quality healthcare to active-duty members and retired military personnel, and their families. Sharing information and implementing useful advanced technology capabilities are essential to the successful delivery of quality healthcare and the optimization of MHS resources. MHS web services and web applications provide resources that all MHS customers and supported organizations may utilize for data sharing and operations while maintaining data integrity and ensuring information is exchanged securely. PEO MS/CIO (J6) is the technical manager for health care information systems and networks. It is J6's responsibility to provide an advanced and robust IT environment that supports a wide variety of business processes within the MHS business areas. The web services infrastructure provides access to systems and office automation tools and data sharing websites used in the day-to-day operations and delivery of health care related information to all MHS supported partners and beneficiaries.
In support of this mission, Peraton is looking for a proven Usability Manager to join the team in support of a development environment to help drive system innovation for related services, developing testing methods and solving usability problems.
Responsibilities:
Requires a broad understanding of all the components of large consumer facing web applications.
Participates in all phases of development from definition and design through implementation, unit test and deployment.
User Interface design and development.
Develops and executes meticulous automated unit tests to ensure quality releasable software. Participates in code reviews.
Assists in defining structured practices especially in source code management, build and release management. Participates in usability reviews and leads improvements in front end design.
Must be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.
Collaborates with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience.
Executes all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering.
Conceptualizes original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks.
Creates wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
Presents and defends designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders.
Conducts user research and evaluates user feedback.
Establishes and promotes design guidelines, best practices, and standards. Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps.
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping.
Experienced working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
Skills:
Strong customer service and communications skills, both oral and written
Strong critical thinking skills that facilitate expedient problem solving
Strong video network administration, documentation and debugging skills
Expert in usability testing methods such as card sorting, heuristic evaluation, surveys, and user interviews
Proficient in design tools including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, and Miro
