Important Information Posted range is $143,000-187,200 The base salary range represents a good faith salary range for this position. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. Primary Role The Principal Data and Analytics Engineer is a key resource within the Data Analytics and Data Management organization. This individual is part of a team responsible for all data services and analytics that underpin the enterprise data platform that support custom applications, dashboards, and advanced analytics. In addition to administrating the core data services, the Principal Data and Analytics Engineer will be responsible for developing and supporting any new workflows and functionalities. The Principal Data and Analytics Engineer will support our application developers, business users, data scientists, and other key stakeholders on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. The Principal Data and Analytics Engineer will be responsible for optimizing our data services architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for our key. Key Accountabilities Takes ownership for all technical aspects of data and analytics product solutions including custom code, third party applications, and integrations Evaluates technical alternatives and feasibility and produce functional/technical designs that offer the best solution to data and analytics problems and requirements Identifies, implements and maintains data and analytics solutions in conjunction with a development team and collaborates with teams to establish new product design objectives, including systems requirements and validation criteria Provides hands-on expert-level assistance to developers Knows the customer and their business. Expertise with a broad set of interdisciplinary technology specialties [e.g. data, mobility, GIS, collaboration, infrastructure] and/or deep knowledge of data and analytics. Demonstrated ability to apply technologies to solve practical problems in a high-tech development environment with multi- function teams for large, complex systems with minimal direction Excellent decision-making ability, balancing what is right with what is realistic Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and to deliver results through others while overcoming obstacles to success Possesses a high energy level, sense of urgency, decisiveness, and an ability to work well under pressure Possesses a curiosity and a passion towards engaging the imagination of senior level executives in grasping and enabling the fundamentals of data and analytics change. Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while simultaneously maintaining the "big picture" view. Data Engineering experience (AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Python, Airflow, Kafka) Experience with Analytics and working with Business-Engineering, building dashboads, (Quicksight, Tableau, PowerBI) Data Science, Jupyter Notebooks, AI, Machine Learning) Superior Communication skills Experience/Education Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or related field of Engineering or similar technology field [Equivalent work experience will be considered] Appropriate technical certification in data and analytics specialties are preferred. Minimum 12 years of experience working in the technology field required with an additional minimum of 3 years in data and analytics area or equivalent role. Experience with the water utility industry is highly desired, but not required.
