JOB TITLE: Adjunct Instructor - Physical Therapist Assistant

REPORTS TO: Dean of Health Sciences

DEPARTMENT: Allied Health

EXEMPT: Yes

VICE PRESIDENT: VP for Academic, Transfer & Health Sciences

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

An Associate or Associate of Applied Science, with a major in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA); OR a Master's or Doctorate, with a major in Physical Therapy (PT); an active, unrestricted PTA or PT license/certification in any US jurisdiction, and is in compliance with the state practice act in the jurisdiction where the program is located;

Three (3) years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy practice as a PTA or PT within the last five (5) years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following.

Maintain current certification and licensure as a PTA or PT;

Participation in didactic, laboratory and/or clinical instruction to include instruction, assessment and evaluation;

Support the program director to assure effective program operations;

Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development;

Maintaining current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress.

Evaluation of student achievement;

Participate in the MCCB revision of curriculum to include CAPTE requirements;

Assist with assessment of program outcomes

Assist with maintaining CAPTE accreditation standards of the program;

Other duties may be assigned;

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those

an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, and the employee is occasionally required to perform job responsibilities in the outdoors and off site.
