Project Overview:
The Infrastructure GBU's Renewables & Clean Power business line is pursuing future combined cycle power plant projects. The business line is assembling a proposal team to be based in Reston, VA. Upon successful award, the candidate will mobilize to the project site.
Job Summary:
The Construction Lead Mechanical Field Engineer is responsible for activities of the mechanical field engineering team relating to construction engineering within the piping discipline. Duties include interpreting mechanical design drawings and specifications, mechanical installation/fabrication including rotating equipment, tanks, vessels, centerline equipment, HRSGs, lifts & hoists, field verification of materials, and technical direction to field mechanical personnel as required. #LI-KL1 #LI-Onsite
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the mechanical discipline such as maintenance plans, construction sequence and equipment setting plans
Coordinate with engineering and procurement for the planning of modularization efforts and sequencing of design and procurement to meet project Advance Work Packaging programs
Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting and forecasting for mechanical discipline
Direct the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment such as mechanical equipment, shims, preventative maintenance consumables & testing equipment
Approve field requisitions as delegated by the Project Field Engineer
Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct mechanical materials & components
Coordinate and monitor the interfaces for piping data exchange to support the construction automation plan and the project controls program requirements at the jobsite
Direct preparation of cost estimates for mechanical construction activities and coordinate the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports
Implement controls over variables affecting mechanical job progress such as such as equipment installation and receipt to ensure engineering and procurement provide timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment and ensure that other corporate programs are fully utilized
Administer major subcontract changes regarding the mechanical discipline and represent the company in major contractual discussions and negotiations
Validate and submit (discipline) construction quantities for Quantity Unit Rate Report (QURR) tracking
Interface with Project Controls for submittal of quantities to ePCWorks
Planning:
Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements
Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, staffing charts, and material and equipment requirements
Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules
Coordinates with other subcontractors and external stakeholders (or subcontractors) to plan construction schedules
Reviews the project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule
Participates in the preparation / review of field change documents and requests for information
Supports Contracts with the verification of change notices and amendments
Supports piping Advance Work Packaging (AWP) efforts and oversees scoping of mechanical work packages
Safety/Quality:
Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
Technical:
Supports Construction Field Engineers, Supervision, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
Coordinates with Design on constructability issues
Prepares testing processes and required test equipment
Inspects installed components for technical acceptance
Assists in development of Commodity Installation means and methods
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Experience on combined cycle facilities is preferred
Knowledge of rotating equipment, tanks & vessels, centerline equipment and HRSG installation preferred
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams
Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft
Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program
Must have work authorization within the United States of America
