Clinical Practice Instructor - Physical Therapist - 37904 Faculty
The University of Colorado Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (HTC) seeks a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in delivering comprehensive care for pediatric and adult patients with inherited bleeding and clotting disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other rare coagulation conditions. The HTC PT Program is comprised of a diverse array of service areas including orthopedics, gait, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and quality improvement and operates within a collaborative environment supporting program maintenance and development.This is a faculty-level, full-time clinical role emphasizing patient-centered care and education for the bleeding disorders population. Bleeding disorders patients are seen for annual multidisciplinary evaluations and additional clinical visits for acute bleeding episodes, chronic hemarthropathy, related orthopedic and functional concerns, and pain complaints. While all PT team members contribute to care across all service areas, each service area has a designated coordinator who plays a key role in upholding evidence-based, high quality patient care and fostering program development. There will be opportunities for this PT to function in a service area coordinator role. :
Evidence-Based Treatment - Utilize tools such as the Hemophilia Joint Health Score (HJHS) to guide care and implement interventions including exercise, neuromuscular re-education, manual therapy, and gait training.
Orthopedic Leadership - Lead and coordinate the orthopedic physical therapy service area, developing protocols, ensuring quality standards, and mentoring other physical therapists.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration - Partner with hematologists, surgeons, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and regional HTC teams to deliver cohesive, patient-centered care.
Patient & Family Education - Provide guidance on musculoskeletal health, self-care, physical activity, bleed prevention, and rehabilitation strategies tailored to patients and families.
Community Engagement & Outreach - Deliver services at regional outreach clinics, summer camps, and educational events while supporting community PTs with specialized consultation.
Research & Quality Improvement - Contribute to clinical research, quality improvement projects, and the development of clinical care pathways while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, IRB, and institutional standards.
this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.
The HTC exists to identify and treat persons with bleeding and clotting disorders in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. The Center provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, education and consultative services for community physicians, educational and other support programs for patients and their families. The work is organized into three sections consisting of research, clinical care, and pharmacy services. This position functions within the clinical unit of the HTC and will collaborate with members of the clinical, pharmacy, and research teams providing care for patients. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Colorado (multi-state licensure required over time; costs for additional licenses covered by the HTC).
Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice experience as a licensed Physical Therapist.
Experience working with electronic medical record systems.Years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Master's degree. Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.
Experience in orthopedics and/or sports medicine.
Strong background or certification in orthopedic or manual therapy.
Proficiency with musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Experience with chronic disease management and/or bleeding disorders.
Experience in research and quality improvement initiatives. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $85,000 to $105,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
