Job Summary:
Provide diabetes care to newly diagnosed and established adults with @type 1 and @type 2 diabetes
Diabetes education and case management for patients
Phone consultations with patients and other NP/PA/physicians in the community
Computer charting/data entry
Educate patients and families in diabetes management
Maintain high standards of the existing diabetes program
Insulin Pump and Continuous Glucose Monitoring Instruction
Contribute to new and ongoing diabetes clinical research protocols
Physical exams for patients enrolled in the clinical research protocol
Manage in clinic and outpatient research protocols (glucose management, adjusting pump settings, frequent blood draws, data entry and management) per protocol.
Interview prospective subjects for a variety of research clinical trials.
Educate potential subjects on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews
Participate in subject recruitment efforts, including communicating with patients expressing an interest and all pre-screening/screening activities
Independently perform study related processes, procedures, and assessments as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulating bodies

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited institution.
Must have or be able to obtain a Nurse Practitioner license to practice in Colorado.
Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification.
1 (one) or more years of clinical research experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous clinical experience in @type 1 diabetes
Certified Pump Trainer and experience with Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) systems preferred.
IV and phlebotomy experience
Previous research experience in @type 1 diabetes and women's health

The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Campus is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide diabetes care and research support in the BDC Adult and the BDC Pregnancy and Women's Health Clinic. The patient population is primarily newly diagnosed and established adults with @type 1 diabetes but also includes some adults with @type 2 diabetes. The successful candidate will provide clinical care for BDC patients in the BDC Adult clinic and will specifically also provide women's health services in the BDC Pregnancy and Women's Health Clinic. In addition to providing clinical care, the Barbara Davis Center has a large clinical research program. This position will also contribute to diabetes-related research studies. Research is conducted on new advanced diabetes technology, outcomes related to use of technology, and the health complications related to T1D. The successful candidate will actively participate in facilitating patient-oriented research projects conducted by BDC investigators. Typical hours are Monday-Friday based on clinic appointment schedule with occasional weekends and extended hours as required to accommodate research schedules. The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) is the largest diabetes institute in the world specializing in @type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. The Center provides state-of-the-art care to over 2,500 adults with @type 1 diabetes or insulin requiring @type 2 diabetes. Within the Adult Division is the Pregnancy and Women's Health Clinic, which helps women manage glucose fluctuations across menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and through the menopausal transition. There is a robust clinical and research program in the Pregnancy and Women's Health Clinic designed to improve health conditions in women living with diabetes and conduct research on advanced diabetes technology use in pregnancy, recognizing long-term complications from diabetic pregnancies, and following offspring of pregnant women for the onset of diabetes in their children. The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $110,000 to $125,000 fixed salary plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical productivity.The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
