We are strengths-oriented and flexible to the needs of our team members.A New Hope Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located in Tioga County, New York, that serves all victims of crime and abuse; most people served have been harmed through domestic violence, sexual violence, and/or child abuse. The Family Advocate will be located primarily at the Tioga County Child Advocacy Center, and will provide direct services, counseling, and advocacy for families and youth, as well as assist with coverage of A New Hope Center's 24-hour hotline. The Family Advocate will also provide direct services, counseling, and advocacy to youth and teens who are at risk of and/or are survivors of sexual exploitation through the Tioga County Safe Harbour Program.Duties:Full-time with shared on-call backup responsibilities for the implementation of our 24-hour crisis intervention services. Schedule will include some evening hours.Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, needs assessments, client accompaniment and short-term individual and group counseling to victims (including children and teens) and their family membersProvide supportive counseling and advocacy to children and families at the Tioga County Child Advocacy CenterAdvocate on clients' behalf with the police, District Attorney's Offices, Child Protective Services, public benefits agencies, courts, medical providers and other relevant organizationsDevelop and maintain strong contacts with referral agencies throughout Tioga and the surrounding region, and provide clients with information and referrals to outside services for themselves and their relevant family membersMaintain accurate case records and program statistics in compliance with funding requirements and objectivesAssist with community education, school groups, trainings, and outreach to community groups and service providers to inform them about ANHC's services and relevant issuesOther duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications:Commitment to learning, understanding, and addressing issues related to domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse, social justice, and an anti-oppression frame of reference.Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and on a teamStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to think critically and address crisis situations as they ariseStrong work ethicOpen and accepting attitudeEducation and experience are considered relative to the work and above characteristicsA cover letter and resume are required.
