This role manages a wide range of communications - including website, email, social media, print, and event promotions - ensuring all materials are accurate, professional, and aligned with University standards. The coordinator also plays a key role in shaping and executing social media strategy, developing engaging and accessible content that strengthens RecWell's brand and connects with diverse student audiences. This position reports to and works closely with the Director of Brand and Creative Strategy and collaborates regularly with colleagues across the Office for Student Affairs and the University to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment in all communications. This position also oversees and contributes to large-scale, public-facing and internal communications and ensures compliance with digital accessibility guidelines and brand standards. Work Responsibilities Communications & Digital Accessibility (55%) Write, edit, and review content being shared across multiple digital and print platforms to ensure accuracy, alignment with brand voice, accessibility, and consistency with University standards, while promoting and protecting the RecWell brand and advancing departmental goals; collaborate with the Director on sensitive and/or crisis communications. Serve as a digital accessibility lead for RecWell, working jointly with other Marketing & Communications Coordinator to ensure that all in-scope materials, such as websites, email, social media, documents, and event promotions, comply with University and federal accessibility standards. Work with students to produce timely marketing content, including graphic design, photography, video, social media, and written materials, to support departmental initiatives, programs, promotions, and campaigns in alignment with departmental and University brand standards. Manage and update RecWell's website and blog, and oversee the maintenance of student-led Sport Club websites, keeping all content accessible, accurate, and aligned with University brand standards. Plan and distribute departmental mass email communications to internal and external audiences. Manage RecWell's social media channels and strategy, including all student-led Sport Club social media content, to engage target audiences. Track analytics across all communication platforms and provide recommendations to improve accessibility and reach. Leadership & Supervision (25%) Supervise student staff by providing training, coaching, feedback, and mentorship with an emphasis on professional growth, student development, accessibility best practices, and ensuring access to necessary equipment and resources. Mentor students in marketing and communications skills such as writing, editing, design, and visual communication to build their professional competencies. Ensure student-developed content is timely, accurate, and engaging. Project Management & Collaboration (20%) Lead the project management workflow for RecWell's marketing and communications team by assigning, tracking, and monitoring projects. Facilitate discussions with program areas to define project scope, timelines, content needs and accessibility requirements. Coordinate communication calendars to ensure projects are delivered on time and provide marketing support for RecWell-sponsored events. Partner with the Office for Student Affairs and program managers to align RecWell communications with University priorities and approval processes. Maintain documentation of digital accessibility practices across all communication platforms. Contribute to annual reports, marketing plans, and departmental planning efforts. Qualifications Minimum / Required Qualifications BA/BS plus two (2) years of experience; or a combination of education and experience totaling at least six (6) years. Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. Experience managing multiple communication platforms (web, social, email, print). Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. Preferred Qualifications BA/BS in communications, marketing, journalism, Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Drupal, Trello, and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience applying digital accessibility standards (e.g., federal, state or University guidance) in communications and marketing work. Supervisory or student mentorship experience.
