The Production Engineer is primarily responsible for the technical management, maintenance, and development of new and existing production lines. This individual supports the manufacturing and operational goals of the organization by developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, operation sequences, test equipment, and processes that ensure equipment capacity aligns with customer demand. The Production Engineer also drives process improvements based on demonstrated yield enhancements and actively participates in defect reduction efforts and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Design and implement new tooling, fixturing, and procedures for the introduction of new motors and improvement of existing ones.
Develop and maintain testing protocols, procedures, and performance metrics to meet manufacturing objectives.
Apply machining, fabrication, and measurement techniques using GD&T best practices to ensure part and assembly compliance.
Investigate and resolve production issues efficiently.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Collaborate with suppliers to procure necessary tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
Create assembly and test procedures for production hardware.
Analyze equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization to optimize efficiency.
Support design intent by effectively utilizing manufacturing tools and equipment.
Develop detailed assembly procedures and tooling designs.
Generate procedures based on industry and aerospace specifications.
Design and communicate test fixtures and tooling concepts with internal teams and suppliers.
Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to all aspects of tool/fixture design, material selection, facility layout, cost estimation, DFM, GD&T, documentation, root cause analysis, and shop operations.
Coordinate with external service providers to maintain equipment functionality.
Standardize manufacturing engineering practices to support yield improvement and safety.
Create and refine detailed manufacturing documentation (e.g., operation sheets, routers, setup/tooling sheets).
Develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs using CAD/CAM software.
Design safe and efficient tools and fixtures for electric motor production.
Provide accurate cost and time estimates using effective manufacturing methods.
Monitor and report performance metrics, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Communicate issues promptly to all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Foster a positive, cooperative, and safe work environment through effective communication.
Participate in root cause investigations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
5+ years' experience in design and manufacturing of electric motors.
2+ years of related experience in a production/operations environment.
Working knowledge of electric motors and their components, the processes and techniques for manufacturing, and the equipment and methods for testing.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents.
Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
Must be a US Citizen .
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with CAD/CAM software.
Knowledge of tooling design and implementation.
Lean Manufacturing experience.
Ability to bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the organization.
Ability to facilitate training to maintain a cross-trained workforce and to support operational goals and objectives.

Work Environment
This role interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines are used. The manufacturing environment includes exposure to fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration. The temperature may be affected by external conditions and machining processes. Eye, hearing, and foot protection are required as necessary. Some travel may be required (5-20%). The position is full-time with a schedule of 4 days (10 hours, Monday-Thursday) and 4 hours on Friday. Overtime and weekend work could be required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $58.00/hr.
