Summary You will serve as a FOUNDRY MOLDER LEADER in the Foundry Branch (Code 1440.1), Production Division (Code 144), Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) (Code 1400) a detachment of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will be responsible for the setup and operation of a variety of machines and molding equipment including cement mixers, cut-off saws, swing frame grinders, sand testing equipment, operation of core drying ovens, and the diamond wire rope saw. You will assume responsibility for breakdown of job assignments while employees are training on specific projects. You will pass out work assignments to other workers within the group based upon the skill level of the employee ensuring coordination between other workers with respect to overlapping assignments. You will inform the first line supervisor of work progress including any work-related problems encountered or foreseen. You will perform in-progress and final checks on work to ensure that all requirements are met and that quality is maintained throughout a project. You will observe that all safety rules and regulations are followed, keeping areas clean and free of debris, ensuring fire and security aspects are enforced. Experience using safety equipment for personal safety in accordance with current regulations. Experience communicating orally and in writing, in order to provide specific instructions to journeyman level, mechanics assigned, and to provide reports to supervision, other codes, trades and other production personnel as required. Experience instructing other personnel on the job or in a classroom environment as to technical aspects or molding of propellers and other castings including machine operations, mold inspections, and all related procedures required in Foundry molding process.
