If so, the staff and volunteer development team within Iowa State University Extension and Outreach 4-H Youth Development is seeking applicants for a 4-H Volunteer Specialist! This position will be classified as a Program Specialist II.
What You'll Do:
Develop policies and procedures for the implementation of the statewide 4-H volunteer management system
Design and develop in-person, virtual, and on-demand learning experiences for adult learners
Create relevant resources to support 4-H volunteer engagement
Assist with risk management practices pertinent to 4-H volunteers
Engage with 4-H colleagues in other states on multi-state program efforts
The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership abilities and possess strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with others and connect with targeted audiences and programs. This position requires skills related to program assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation , along with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers within an organized volunteer management system and youth development program. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential for success in this role.
Occasional travel will be involved in this role.
This is a fixed term position with an end date of 6/30/2028, with the opportunity for renewal.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Providing research-based education to K-12 youth, Iowa 4-H builds upon more than a century of experience in positive youth development.Level Guidelines- Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals- Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems- Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests- May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff- May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity- Provides guidance to students
