Accounting Director The Accounting Director is responsible for developing accurate and timely financial information for executive review while providing proper fiduciary control over the organization's financial resources. This role is highly visible and will require an individual who can lead strategical efforts and drive initiatives but directly impact daily work and mentor and develop a team.
Ideal candidates for this position will have an extensive background working in a matrix organization across multiple business units and functions including Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, IT and Accounting.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
Provides Company and location leadership with accurate and timely monthly financial statements that are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); develops, reviews and implements internal accounting control systems or standards to underpin monthly statements
Leads the preparation of and facilitates the annual audit of financial statements by the organization's external auditors
Participates in leading various operational-based Accounting functions that the team supports such as Credit and Collections, Billing, Cash Application, Accounts Payable and Capital Acquisition
Supports the ongoing development and utilization of financial planning and reporting tools (Oracle EPM, Power BI) across the organization to improve operational and financial transparency
Serves as the Accounting Lead for all operational excellence / Lean Six Sigma initiatives and projects
Partners with location/functional leaders and Finance leaders to understand and communicate differences between actual and budget performance; proactively helps to identify and drive actions to improve business performance
Collaborates with various business unit leaders and takes ownership of the development and reporting of key metrics (KPIs); incorporates metrics into daily/weekly/monthly reports, dashboards, and business review meetings
Drives clarity amongst business unit leaders by connecting operational metrics to financial performance to improve decision making and drive optimal business outcomes
Assists in the development of leadership presentations, including monthly financial and dashboard reviews and advisory board meetings
Provides financial/business support and expertise as needed for various M&A-related activities, including financial modeling and sensitivity analysis
Acts as a resource to the Accounting team, with the goal of mentoring, leading and providing the resources needed for individual and team success
Maintains the ability to travel as needed, up to 20%
Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (required)
MBA (preferred)
Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant certification (preferred)
Experience:
10+ years of industry related experience and continued professional development (required)
5+ years of supervisory experience (required)
Previous experience utilizing PeopleSoft Financials (preferred)

Highly skilled in all advanced Microsoft Excel functionality with a deep understanding of data architecture and advanced planning and analytical tools (Oracle EPM, Power BI)
Strong knowledge and understanding of various federal, state, and local industry-related regulations
Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
