Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Under the direction of the Director for Technology, SG-31, the Manager of Information Technology, SG-27, will be assigned to supervise ITS staff and the associated technologies in 4 OPWDD Districts covering 24 counties. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of support, technology initiatives and ITS needs for OPWDD in these areas. The incumbent will also be responsible for leading, supervising, mentoring, and coordinating staff who need to provide technical expertise and guidance in all areas of desktop and mobile hardware, Active Directory, Microsoft Technologies, miscellaneous software, and general software updates.Specific duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:- Manage 30+ staff located across the various 4 DDSO locations including performance programs, evaluations, recruitment and hiring activities. - Based in Schenectady, with regular travel to all central and Eastern NY regional offices. 25% travel. - In cooperation with peers in other regions, develop a plan for consolidating regional application systems or similar @type technologies or workflows.- Manage staff responsibilities for ongoing IT initiatives and Customer Needs. - Develop and maintain formal project schedules- Responsible for project status reporting - Manage development of systems for use in field operations, coordinating with peers in other regions and supervising your staff as part of a larger team- Coordinate with ITS staff responsible for delivering desktop support to customers in facilities where you may also have development staff located.- Manage and maintain the ITSM open tickets for the various DDSO's and regions- Ensure Tickets are addressed and closed within a acceptable time frame.- Identify training and staff development needs and options for meeting the same.- Coordinate with managers across the cluster to ensure development standards are known, understood, and being followed. - Develop and maintain documentation pertaining to operating procedures for new technologies
Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG27/M2, OR in a position at the SG25 or M1 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade.Note: If you are on the examination eligible list for the position title in this location, you do not need to respond to this posting unless you are also eligible for appointment by one of the qualifications listed above. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.
