Duties Description This position resides on the Enterprise Network Services team in the Bureau of Hardware Platforms within the Chief Information Office.- Design, implement, and maintain complex enterprise wired/wireless networks.- Lead incident response, patching, and after-hours escalations.- Supervise staff, assign tasks, and evaluate performance.- Enforce documentation, standards, and operational readiness.- Coordinate cross-team efforts and report project status to leadership.- Drive technical initiatives and ensure policy compliance.

Non-Competitive Qualifications for appointment under the NY HELPS Program: For appointment to an Information Technology Specialist 3 (SG-23), you must have: 1. Five years of professional experience in the following computer related areas: network, server, storage, and systems management; telecommunications, IT customer support and training; computer installation, diagnosis, and repair; technical writing; computer security; knowledge management; database administration, design, and management; internet/intranet development, design, and maintenance; information technology project management; design and development of geographic information systems or computer aided drafting applications; computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing.OR2. A bachelor's degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and two years of experience; or a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and three years of experience; or an associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in a computer science field and four years of experience. Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Demonstrated knowledge in supporting network environments built on an Arista infrastructure, including wired LAN/WAN and WLAN deployments.- Demonstrated knowledge of Layer 3 Leaf-Spine (L3LS) architectures and VXLAN overlays, including control plane (EVPN) and data plane components.- Proficient in configuring, operating, and troubleshooting Arista EOS-based platforms.- Familiarity with Arista CloudVision for telemetry, configuration management, and network automation.- Familiarity using Arista CV-CUE for network configurations, telemetry, and deployments.- Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EVPN within VXLAN fabric designs.- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex network issues using tools such as packet captures and traffic flow analysis.- Understanding of wireless RF fundamentals and WLAN optimization in Arista-based deployments.- Demonstrated capability automating network tasks using scripting tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) or APIs.- Skilled in documenting network topologies and configurations using tools such as Microsoft Visio.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in mission-critical environments.- Proficient at communicating (verbally and in writing) with technical staff, customers, and management.- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.- Ability to work and collaborate in a dynamic team environment.- Demonstrates initiative, independence, confidentiality, planning, and organizational skills.- Knowledgeable in network security best practices and standards.- Demonstrated ability to quickly master new information technology concepts using a variety of methods including on-the-job learning, research, and formal training.- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships including coordination with vendors and meeting deadlines.Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee's primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so.
