Ford is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Senior Buyer to join our dynamic Indirect Purchasing team, dedicated to supporting the rapid growth of Ford's electric vehicle ecosystem. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of EV charging solutions for our commercial fleet customers, internal Ford campuses, and Model e dealerships. This position requires a proactive leader with a strong procurement background, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving market. You will be responsible for strategic sourcing and end-to-end supplier management for EV charging hardware and accessories with focus on CX through the entire product lifecycle, including supply risk mitigation, out of box experience, installation, and field service management.
What You'll Do...
· Lead comprehensive sourcing activities for EV Charging Hardware and Accessories, including AC and DC chargers, posts, and related components, for both commercial fleet, retail, and internal campus customers.
· Execute the full procurement lifecycle, encompassing Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotation (RFQ), negotiations, sourcing decisions, contract finalization, and delivery assurance.
· Develop and implement strategic "now, near, and far" plans to ensure cost-effective, efficient, and sustainable charging solutions for Ford Pro customers (depot, home, and public).
· Negotiate Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) with detailed Statements of Work (SOWs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics to ensure consistent, high-quality product and service delivery.
· Collaborate with suppliers to establish cost models that drive speed of execution and optimal cost efficiency.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management:
· Establish and manage supplier relationships, ensuring high customer satisfaction and continuous improvement through rigorous KPI tracking (e.g., on-time delivery, quality, SOW/SLA performance).
· Conduct regular Supplier Business Unit Reviews (BURs) to assess performance, evaluate supplier health, harvest industry benchmarks, and ensure strategic alignment.
· Support warranty, troubleshooting, and quality improvement initiatives with suppliers, collaborating with STA (Supplier Technical Assistance) and Product Development (PD) to integrate automotive standards into hardware specifications and manufacturing processes, aiming for best-in-class reliability.
· Develop supply chain risk assessments and mitigation plans across all tiers (cost, quality, risk).
Cross-functional Leadership & Collaboration:
· Act as the primary interface between EVSE Charging Hardware suppliers and various Ford organizations, including Indirect Purchasing, Production, Ford Pro, Product Development, STA, Cost Estimating, Finance, Logistics, and Office of General Counsel (OGC).
· Lead multiple complex projects, such as establishing hosted catalogs for internal customers, supporting Model E Dealer needs, and program managing new product launches with suppliers and internal skill teams.
· Design and implement a nimble and agile purchasing framework within a rapidly evolving business space, building consensus across internal teams and capitalizing on Ford's scale and established processes.
Business Acumen :
· Understand and assess the total value equation for Ford Pro Charging, considering both short-term and long-term implications in decision-making.
· Conduct in-depth sourcing and cost analysis, including understanding cost drivers and developing robust cost models.
· Track and report actual and forecasted cost savings, identifying opportunities for continuous cost optimization.
· Ensure strict adherence to Ford's Purchasing Policy and Procedures, including appropriate contract sign-offs, risk assessments, and compliance with Delegations of Authority.
· Manage bailment approvals and financial carrying costs for charger hardware inventory.
· Secure favorable Ford Pro Charging buy terms and ensure sell terms align to protect the business (e.g., IP rights, liability, warranty, RMA).
You'll have...
· Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
· 3+ years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Procurement, preferably within a manufacturing or automotive environment.
· Proven experience in contract development, including SOWs, SLAs, and performance-based metrics.
· Strong analytical skills with proficiency in cost analysis, business case development, and data-driven decision making.
· Demonstrated negotiation skills, with the ability to leverage data to achieve favorable outcomes.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

· Experience in Production Purchasing, particularly with electrical components or charging infrastructure.
· Familiarity with assessing supplier manufacturing quality (e.g., working with STA).
