About Smart Infrastructure - Electrification and Automation:
The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today's and tomorrow's power grid!
The EA Business Unit in Wendell, North Carolina, which is its U.S. headquarters, focuses on photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer - SieBreak & 8DJH36. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Medium Voltage Switchgear team (covering both Gas-Insulated and Air-Insulated technologies). This role focuses on our SieBreak and 8DJH36 product lines, supporting design, documentation, and manufacturing in Wendell, NC.
The role will be hybrid, based in Wendell NC, with flexibility to work in-office and from home.
You'll ?make an impact by:
Serve as Mechanical Engineering point of contact for Siemens MV switchgear product SIEBREAK TM , SIEBREAK VCB TM , and 8DJH36 gear
Job duties can be broken across 3 categories: "Design & Documentation", "Collaboration", "Support and Quality"
Work independently to create all documents for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgear per design specifications using Engineering Design and Configurator software Typical documents include:
Customer Specification Alignment
3D Models for Factory Fabrication
General Arrangement
Side Views
Bill of Materials
Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across project lifecycle, including Application Engineers, Project Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers.
Function as Quality gate prior to release of drawings/documentation to customer and factory. assembly drawings, detailed drawings, manufacturing sketches, layouts, inspection data and bill of materials
Ownership of the overall deliverables from a mechanical standpoint - including design, drafting, customer and factory deliverables point of view.
Provide factory support during the manufacture phase of your projects making sure quality requirements are met. Also, in the process of providing technical support or clarifications to customers during FAT.
You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or a combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of above mentioned product lines
3+ years of proven experience working with the engineering or drafting of electrical power distribution products and systems. Preference given to experience with switchgear.
Experience working with 3D models.
Demonstratable proficiency with AutoCAD.
Excellent communication skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders effectively and accurately.
Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks.
Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and willingness to learn product configuration and applications.
Ability to multitask and manage large workloads and business demands.
An ideal candidate is self-driven with attention to detail, a system thinker, and process-driven, and should also embrace a culture of quality.
Candidate on or willing to relocate to the Raleigh/Wendell, NC area.
Candidate to have work authorization that would permit them to work within the United States.
Ability to travel internationally; work will require trips to Germany.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1-2 years of experience working within a complex made-to-order manufacturing environment.
Demonstratable proficiency working with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems.
Demonstratable proficiency working with complex engineering BoMs "Bill of Materials."
Familiarity with mechanical assemblies, including Galvanized Steel, Copper Bus, Welded Assemblies, Bus Supports, and Sheet Metal a Plus

The pay range for this position is $73,500 - $126,000 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
