Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Biologist for employment in the Coral Gables (Miami), FL office. This position would support our client's needs with respect to environmental/NEPA analyses and reporting for projects including natural resources, sociocultural resources, and physical resources in the South Florida region. Position will require working in a client's office on a full-time basis.
Primary duties may include, but not be limited to performing the following:
Environmental data collection, identification, investigation, and data analysis
Utilize electronic data collection methods and manage data, as needed.
Conducting studies related to natural resources, protected species, wildlife resources and related parameters
Conduct biological surveys/ protocol-level fieldwork as part of a team. Identify and record fauna and/or flora in field (terrestrial/wetland and coastal).
Preparation and/or review of natural/social/physical resources technical reports - strong writing skills required to prepare high-quality NEPA-related documents and other technical reports
Assisting with the preparation of NEPA documents
Coordination with regulatory and resource agencies with regard to NEPA, ecological studies and environmental permitting
Working in regional program areas related to natural/water resources planning, community development, coastal zone management and others
Possess some knowledge of major state (e.g., FDEP) and federal agencies (e.g., USACE, USFWS, NOAA Fisheries) and major regulatory frameworks (e.g., NEPA, ESA, CWA and CCA) as they relate to biological resource impacts
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget.
Bring flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best meet the needs of AECOM and its clients
Working in a client's office on a full time basis
Occasional travel may be required.
The successful candidate must be capable of performing field work in difficult weather conditions, and easily handle terrain obstacles such as fences and other obstacles as well as animal nuisances such as ticks, mosquitos and snakes. Travel (short term and extended) may be required, including overnight stays.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in biology, ecology, botany, or other closely related discipline.
Valid driver license required, and must be able to safely drive to job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment where changing client priorities result in the need to determine creative ways to get the job done.
Experience with South Florida ecosystems (flora and fauna).
Candidate must be flexible and willing to support multiple projects as needed.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team; be innovative and a problem solver.
The ability to work in a client's office and communicate efficiently to the client (proactive).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Ability to create and maintain tracking spreadsheets and documents.
Proficiency in GIS and other mapping tools a plus.
Valid driver license required, and must be able to safely drive to job sites.
Prior consulting experience preferred, but non-consultant candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
