JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Data Engineer, is responsible for developing and maintaining data pipelines, collaborating with subject matter experts to identify systems of record , and defining sources of truth across various data sets. This position is responsible for partnering with key stakeholders to establish clear data ownership, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and support the development of data solutions and data-driven decision-making using modern data platform technologies. In addition, this position is responsible for daily execution of services related to the support of end users and/or managed and participating franchise properties with report building, dashboard creation, asset data collection/analytics, data and system integration, and other tasks as assigned. Create and maintain logical and physical data models that ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and usage. While leading a project, this role would also delegate relevant tasks as necessary to analysts from other teams.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience:
2-year degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related major; 9 years' experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or related professional area.
OR
4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related major; certified trainer; 7 years' experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related professional area.
Required:
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Fabric technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and Synapse Analytics) for building and maintaining data pipelines. Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) data services a plus.
Proven experience with Power BI and Power Apps, including data modeling, report/dashboard development, and integration with underlying data sources.
Strong proficiency in data engineering tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, ETL, cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, and frameworks like Apache Airflow, Kafka).
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
Preferred:
Experience with data visualization and reporting best practices using Power BI.
Experience with integrating disparate solutions through data and Application Programming Interfaces (API).
Experience with Power Automate or other automation tools.
Experience with software development life cycle, source code management, and version control systems.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Meeting Continent Technology Data, Integration, and Automation Needs
Ingests and prepares data using MS Fabric, PowerBI and other cloud-based data technologies.
Cleans and transforms data from various sources using APIs, Notebooks, SQL, and other tools
Builds and maintains data models for consumption by on-property and above-property continent IT resources.
Develops Power BI Dashboards and Reports.
Monitors Data Refreshes and Pipeline Runs resolving interruptions and communicating impacts to stakeholders.
Automates workflows with Power Automate, PowerApps, and other tools.
Optimizes performance of data models and reports.
Manages data access and security.
Documents data processes and maintains version control.
Handles multiple data-related priorities
Provides input and follows standard SOPs for security, compliance, change control, and disaster recovery.
Responds to complex questions and problems with minimal guidance.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Supporting On-Property Projects and Global Initiatives
Designs, implements, and optimizes scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric technologies, verifies smooth data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
Collaborates with subject matter experts to identify systems of record within the organization and establish seamless data flow processes for each.
Works to define authoritative sources of truth across business functions, verifying data consistency, accuracy, and integration across systems.
Partners with product teams, information security, and finance organizations on compliance data.
Collaborates with business leaders, data scientists, and analysts to collect requirements so that data engineering solutions meet organizational objectives.
Develops and maintains Power BI dashboards and reports, build robust data pipelines for business analysis, and verify accurate, consistent data for Power Apps. Works with stakeholders to identify data owners, assign accountability, and verify proper governance of data management practices.
Partners with business teams to define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs), validating that they are reflected in data structures and actionable through tools like Power BI.
Maintains thorough documentation for data pipeline design, architecture, and processes. Advocates for continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in data engineering, particularly within the MS Fabric ecosystem.
Remains current on new data tools and technologies while applying best practices.
Manages projects and follows business processes with little supervision or guidance.
Provides IT expertise and knowledge on projects & technology to participating properties and/or to stakeholders.
As needed, leads a small project team
Building and Sustaining Relationships with Customers
Writes/presents proposals, analyses, project plans, cost models, etc. in written and/or oral formats.
Provides customer service.
Provides detailed status reports as requested.
Performs other reasonable duties as assigned by leadership.
The salary range for this position is $73,800 to $115,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
