As the Lead Process Engineer at our Auburn, Alabama site, you will own and perform engineering shop floor associated duties within the manufacturing process. You will lead process engineering initiatives and activities, including designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes, impacting operations of the plant by enabling manufacturing uptime, cost reduction, and increased product quality including while providing technical expertise and direction including mentoring and guiding peer engineers.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Manufacturing technical process ownership within assigned production area(s)
Hands-on, shop floor support to assigned manufacturing process(es) to deliver business results while encouraging input from area personnel working within a self-directed workforce (Teaming) environment
Assist production associates, coaches, and business unit leaders in resolving manufacturing process hindrances through a drive-to-root-cause and permanent corrective action implementation
Explain technical information to others
Confer with manufacturing associates, management, engineering, and other support staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
Drive efforts to support and meet production schedules, including productivity, quality and cost-out initiatives. Utilize process performance data and problem solve to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements to drive quality, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs
Participate in the development of short- and long-term plans and lead technical projects to support the business in meeting its objectives with a strong focus on part quality, cycle time and cost
Confer with product design engineers concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
Author/improve process planning, evaluate operating methods, select controls, and specify tools, fixtures, and gages necessary to repeatedly build conforming hardware. Conduct process training as required
Act as a change agent, understanding and moving the operation toward benchmarked, best of class performance and staying updated on industry developments and best practices
Display a dedicated, team-oriented work ethic with personal ownership while having a goal-focused mindset
Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive relationships
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years' experience in a technical skillset in a manufacturing environment)
At least an additional 3 years of process or similar manufacturing-related engineering experience
Desired Characteristics:
Minimum of 5 years of process or similar manufacturing-related engineering experience
In-depth knowledge of a technical discipline
Leverage prior experiences and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy
Demonstrated advanced experience with non-conventional CNC equipment, including machine setup, preferably in EDM processes.
Strong background in setting varying priorities, taking technical ownership of assigned responsibilities and handling competing demands of the manufacturing environment quickly and efficiently
High sense of urgency, bias for action with customer-service mindset, and able to effectively contribute to a high performing team
Experience working both independently and as a leading productive member of a cross-functional team
In possession of Certifying Agent certification, preferably in EDM
Have flexibility in hours/shift of work; ability to flex schedule for project task implementation, training and/or shop coverage needs
Willing to travel as needed, but not limited to, equipment factory acceptance, professional development, training, or information exchange among GE Aerospace manufacturing facilities
Prior process/manufacturing knowledge of Airfoils and Aviation High Pressure Turbine blade manufacturing
