This is a hybrid role being onsite in Maple Plain, MN on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The Sales Manager, Key Accounts serves a foundational leadership role in empowering and guiding the Key Account Manager team. The primary responsibility of this role is to meet and exceed the annual bookings quotas as established by the company, ensuring that all strategic initiatives and customer engagements align with this critical objective. This position is instrumental in ensuring that the KAM team operates in alignment with Protolabs' strategic objectives and contributes effectively to the company's growth. While fostering collaboration and efficiency within the team, the Sales Manager, Key Accounts supports the development of exceptional customer relationships and leverages Protolabs' service offerings to drive mutual success. This role emphasizes mentoring emerging talent, aligning activities with strategic goals, and optimizing account management processes for sustainable growth. Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Oversight and Guidance: Support the development of strategic plans for key accounts, ensuring they align with Protolabs' broader business objectives. Assist KAMs in the creation and management of account budgets and strategic plans, providing necessary oversight and direction. Performance Management: Implement performance metrics and KPIs to drive accountability and operational improvement within the KAM team. Conduct regular reviews of performance dashboards and analytics to evaluate progress towards goals. Resource Allocation & Support: Ensure KAMs have access to the resources needed to manage and expand their accounts effectively, including cross-functional team support. Facilitate the resolution of complex issues that may require internal collaboration. Innovation and Strategic Initiatives: Encourage KAMs to introduce innovative ideas that align customer needs with Protolabs' capabilities, enhancing competitive advantage. Stay informed about industry trends and guide KAMs in making strategic decisions based on these insights. Leadership & Mentorship: Provide mentorship and support for KAMs in their personal and professional development, with a focus on cultivating future leaders. Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture aligned with continuous improvement. Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with both internal stakeholders and key customer contacts to support KAM efforts. Serve as an escalation point for significant account issues, aiding in timely and effective resolution. Strategic Alignment and Execution: Ensure KAM activities are in sync with Protolabs' strategic priorities and that strategic goals are executed effectively. Promote consistency in strategic planning and business analyticalpractices within the team. Continuous Improvement: Lead the adoption of best practices in key account management and encourage feedback for continual enhancement of processes. What it takes: Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent education and/or experience. 10 years sales experience, including 3-5+ years sales management Fortune 500 experience Understanding of the manufacturing product life cycle and Protolabs' service offerings. Strong accountability and leadership capabilities, with the ability to guide and develop a high-performing team. Proactive strategic thinker committed to identifying new business opportunities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with team members and customer stakeholders. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships within Protolabs' ecosystem and with customers. Problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement in account management practices. The base salary range for this role is $106,600-$142,200 USD/year + Variable = Total Cash range of $156,000 - $192,000 USD/year.
