This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). MNIT MDE manages the technical functions critical to managing public education in Minnesota; supporting systems including funding disbursement and large-scale, public-facing school performance data reporting.
Minnesota IT Services partnering with Minnesota Department of Education is seeking a skilled WebFOCUS Report Writer to produce accurate, efficient, and insightful web-based reports on Minnesota K-12 education. This role collaborates closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Subject Matter Experts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate datasets, and develop or troubleshoot WebFOCUS code to deliver reports in the appropriate formats. The position supports a wide range of departments and audiences, including state and federal program teams, school finance, special education, student services, early learning, and Minnesota school districts, ensuring data-driven insights are accessible to internal teams and the public.
This is a Remote Worker position (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1447-remoteworker.pdf) , where the employees home address shall serve as their official work location and must be located within the continental United States. Remote work is a condition of employment.
Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in performing IT database/datamart systems and server analysis, design, development and system administration.
Experience must include:
Experience developing reports and dashboards using WebFOCUS Developer Studio/Reporting Servers (v8.1.05 or later).
Ability to design and execute complex SQL queries, optimize performance, and apply data modeling principles.
Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
Experience applying data warehousing concepts and working with ETL processes.
Knowledge of data visualization principles and practices for presenting information effectively.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Focus core language.
Experience with JavaScript extension libraries such as jQuery and jQuery UI.
Experience confirming reliability through testing using WebFOCUS, SQL, Server Management Studio, Microsoft Excel, and other web browser debugging tools and techniques.
Familiarity with Azure cloud-based BI platforms.
Experience with agile development or project management methodologies.
Holds a WebFOCUS Master's Certification.
