This posting will be used to fill two limited Student Worker Para Professional positions. These positions will work part-time (20 hours per week). These temporary positions are anticipated to last until June 2026.
As a Student Worker Para Professional at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), you will help support the Municipal Wastewater program in data entry and filing needs. Primary duties of this position include: scanning files and other program documents for the NPDES/SDS Permitting, Biosolids, Data Management, and Pretreatment programs; importing scanned files and documents into OnBase in accordance with the approved filing taxonomy, the priority will be the biosolids data with support of other program scanning needs if or as time allows; assisting the WQ Submittal center with document processing, which includes entering document receipt dates into Tempo and prepping documents for scanning; entering program data into TEMPO including, but not limited to: biosolids site approvals, biosolids annual report information, biosolids PFAS data, and other NPDES/SDS municipal wastewater program data if and as time allows; supporting municipal wastewater PFAS data management; reviewing, updating, and verifying existing data in TEMPO to ensure data accuracy and completeness; assisting compliance, permitting, and engineering staff in various program activities if and as time allows; and/or other administrative or program project needs. The position is under the direct supervision of the Municipal Wastewater Technical Services Unit Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Post-secondary education student working on an Environmental science/studies, biological/ecological studies, water/wastewater, hydrology, geography or related degree.
(To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off' for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student, you must be enrolled in high school or in a post secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit granting institution, he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.)

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with TEMPO.
Experience with data entry.
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate with internal and external customers.
Ability to work independently and with others.
Accomplished in using computer programs (Microsoft office products, e-mail, internet, outlook).
Ability to follow directions and carry-out detailed processes.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or moving light objects frequently. A job is in this category may require maintaining a stationary position to a significant degree or may involve a certain amount of moving necessary in carrying out job duties.
Additional Requirements
Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver's license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
