Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer (Hands-On)

Job Description:

We are seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role combines process improvement, and floor-level troubleshooting in a fast-paced plastic injection molding environment. The ideal candidate is just as comfortable analyzing data and improving processes as they are getting onto the floor to solve real-time production challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Process & Equipment Support

Provide technical support for injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and automation.

Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, and tooling issues directly on the floor.

Assist maintenance and production teams with equipment modifications and repairs.

Engineering & Continuous Improvement

Develop and implement process improvements to optimize quality, efficiency, and cycle times.

Partner with production supervisors and operators to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and cost reduction initiatives.

Support new product launches, tooling changes, and engineering trials.

Documentation & Compliance

Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and PM standards.

Ensure compliance with OSHA and facility safety policies.

Support quality system requirements (PFMEA, control plans, capability studies, etc.)

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work with engineering, production, maintenance, and quality teams to align on priorities.

Serve as a technical resource for operators and technicians.

Provide input on equipment purchases and capital projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering , Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of experience in plastic injection molding or a similar manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of automation, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

Experience with injection molding equipment, tooling, and automation.

Proficiency with CAD and Microsoft Office (SolidWorks preferred).

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on the floor.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

3d printing experience is a plus
