Summary This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Hampton VA Medical Center, North Battlefield VA Outpatient Clinic (NBVAOC), in the Environmental Management Service (EMS). Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Plans, coordinates, and provides management oversight of environmental care services and housekeeping operations in association with the Chief and Assistant Chief of EMS. Provides training and development, inspection and compliance, program coordination and evaluation, and management oversight involving all environmental care services and housekeeping operations. Manages and evaluates the maintenance of environmental sanitation within acceptable levels of bacteriological, as well as visual cleanliness and the assurance of appropriate quantity and quality of textile production and delivery. Plans and directs basic housekeeping programs that are designed to maintain visual and bacteriological cleanliness. Provides the technical and management guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of the housekeeping services resources. Develops, implements, and maintains a formal, comprehensive training program focusing on aspects of housekeeping services, waste management, and pest control. Evaluates courses and course material used in the training program and assists management in the evaluation of courses. Operates and controls the Environmental Service Computer Tool (ESCT) and other housekeeping task frequency analysis tools in their entirety. Monitors training records, adherence to established technical procedures, and the integration of the principles relayed during training regarding the completion of tasks. Plans and directs the provision of housekeeping services for assigned areas in association with the Chief and Assistant Chief of EMS. Develops and implements organizational structures and operating plans and procedures to achieve program goals, monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency of operations within the established framework. Coordinates program operations and activities with other sections and services. Provides advisory services to all levels of management and to all hospital departments regarding the requirements and resolution of substantive housekeeping problems and services provided. oversees the daily operation of the unit, ensures that agency policies and priorities are being followed; plans work to be accomplished, setting and adjusting priorities; assigns work based on priorities and capabilities of employee; develops performance standards; and evaluates work performance of subordinates. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first two (2) years of graduate level education which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position and was obtained from an accredited college or university.
