Job Summary:
The Naval Power Operations & Supply Chain (OSC) Business Process Data Analyst sits at the intersection of business operations and technical execution, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex data into understandable insights for various stakeholders such as procurement, material management, factory operations, and program management.
This role requires working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP), particularly in navigating common purchasing and manufacturing transactions, along with basic familiarity of SAP Business Warehouse structures. A solid understanding of ETL frameworks, data pipelines, and report performance tuning is essential to ensure scalable and reliable data flows across systems.
Daily actions in this role involve end-to-end data management and reporting across multiple platforms, with a strong emphasis on finding ways to uncover opportunities and risks related to operational efficiency and the PR to PO lifecycle. Responsibilities include querying and transforming data from Snowflake to support analytics and reporting needs, as well as designing, maintaining, and optimizing Power BI dashboards for various stakeholders. The position requires proficiency in SQL, Power BI (DAX), Excel, Power Query (M) and Power Pivot to support ad-hoc analysis and legacy reporting workflows. Proper data modeling techniques, star schema development and data normalization experience are fundamental prerequisites for this job.
What you will do:
Support the entire data integration lifecycle including requirement collection, data discovery and profiling, development, user acceptance testing, and maintenance
Investigate data lineage and create robust documentation that defines how data is calculated and how it should be interpreted by the business
Receive, develop, and deliver critical ad-hoc requests for data analysis in time sensitive scenarios
Meet with stakeholders to collect feedback and implement improvements to existing reports
Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI reports through query and data model optimization techniques
Implement trend analysis, root cause analysis, linear regression, pareto analysis, etc. and communicate insights to support decision making
Develop process maps using popular techniques such as BPMN to identify process inefficiencies and opportunities for cycle time improvement
Present and defend key findings supported by empirical data to leadership
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor's and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree.
Minimum of 2 years working experience utilizing Microsoft Excel (or other data visualization software like Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to pull and transform data, perform pivot analysis, create actionable metrics and visualizations
Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning software (SAP or others)
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience querying data in databases using SQL, CTEs, complex nested queries across various platforms (Snowflake, Oracle, MySQL, Access)
Experience with ETL tools and workflows (SSIS, Alteryx, Power Query, etc.)
Experience with database schema configurations, entity relationship diagramming, cardinality, etc.
Experience with statistical methods and analysis (regression, comparative methods, statistical process control, etc.)
Experience with Python scripting, object-oriented programming, API calls, Pandas, NumPy, etc.

Remote: This position currently is designated as remote. Employees who are working in remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home) but may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. The successful candidate for this role will be required to reside and work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. territories).
The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
