Description

Tammy Power, Recruiting Manager with Robert Half, is working with a respected construction company that is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant. This role is ideal for a professional with 5+ years of accounting experience who enjoys working in a project-driven environment and is comfortable handling both day-to-day accounting and project-related financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger entries, and reconciliations.

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Maintain and reconcile job cost records, supporting project managers with cost tracking, budget-to-actual analysis, and profitability reporting.

Assist with WIP schedules, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

Support monthly and year-end close, preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

Collaborate with project management and operations teams to provide financial insights and ensure alignment of project data.

Assist with cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.

Prepare documentation for external audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.

Contribute to process improvements by identifying opportunities for greater efficiency in accounting workflows and system use.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction, contracting, or project-based industries.

Solid understanding of GAAP and construction accounting practices, including job cost and WIP.

Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore, QuickBooks for Construction) a plus.

Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze and reconcile large data sets.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across accounting and operations.
