THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is actively seeking a Security Officer 1 to be a part of our Safety and Security Team at Torrance State Hospital. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of safety and security related tasks at the hospital that will allow us to continue to provide inpatient services for individuals with mental illnesses. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will work along with your fellow officers and communicate with the Fire and Safety Marshal and Safety Manager to provide a safe and secure treatment environment for the care of individuals with mental illness. This will include ensuring that the safe environment in multiple buildings is maintained and responding to emergency situations that may arise. Some of your duties will include staffing the control room desk, providing information to and screening visitors, patrolling the campus, assisting patients, and responding to unusual incidents. As an officer, you will create detailed incident reports as needed and complete routine logs to record activities. You will also complete a wide variety of shift tasks and routines to ensure operations are following established policy and procedure. This may include checking the condition of the roads, making announcements over the public address system, and conducting searches for missing patients. Additionally, you will check identification of visitors and employees.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours as follows, with rotating days off. You will have every third weekend off.
1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.
