As the Systems and Data Coordinator for the Office of Inspector General (OIG), you will lead the development and management of the OIG data infrastructure, encompassing strategy, collection, analysis, fiscal assessments, and statistical research. Duties will include:
Implement and improve Office systems, i.e. case tracking system and fraud controls programs to help identify and prevent fraud, waste and abuse.
Guide OIG divisions, MDE leadership, internal and external stakeholders (federal, research, public) through insightful reports, dashboards, and visualizations and develop fraud leads and statistical methods for identifying fraud.
Conduct complex research and apply methodologies and processes for large-scale projects that drive decisions for work with external agencies and internal MDE programs related to investigations into fraud, waste or abuse.
This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering state. Employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month.
Minimum Qualifications

5 years of professional experience in data analytics, data infrastructure, fraud analysis, or systems analysis
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree in data science, statistics, public administration, computer science, social science research, or closely related field and 4 years of professional experience data analytics, data infrastructure, fraud analysis, or systems analysis
Experience must include:
Demonstrated experience in:
Designing and implementing data collection and reporting systems
Performing advanced data analysis using statistical or analytical software (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAS, or similar)
Creating dashboards, visualizations, or reports to inform operational and strategic decisions
Stong knowledge of data privacy laws, public data classification, and appropriate use of confidential or sensitive data
Proven ability to collaborate across divisions or agencies, and to communicate technical or statistical information clearly to non-technical audiences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an Inspector General, internal audit, or fraud prevention/investigation unit
Knowledge of or experience with:
Education data systems and program integrity monitoring
Law enforcement or criminal investigations support through data
Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization platforms
Familiarity with project management methodologies and coordinating cross-agency or multi-disciplinary teams
Experience developing statistical models or algorithms for fraud detection or prevention
Demonstrated ability to manage large or complex data sets and conduct data validation or quality assurance
Working knowledge of state or federal program operations, particularly in education, public assistance, or regulatory environments
