The Director of Risk Assessment/Community Notification (RA/CN) provides management of three main service areas: risk assessment evaluation and treatment recommendations for those committed to the Department of Corrections (DOC) for a sex offense; screening processes to identify those with a sex offense history that meet criteria to be forwarded to the county attorney offices for legal review and possible petition for civil commitment as Sexual Psychopathic Personality / Sexually Dangerous Person (SPP/SDP); and assignment of sex-offense registration levels and management of community notification services throughout the state.
This position is eligible to telework up to 50% of the time. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or a bordering state in a county along the Minnesota state line.
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held .
Four (4) years of experience in corrections or community supervision providing, managing, and/or directing services for people with a sexual offense history or who are required to register under Minn. Stat. § 243.166 or 243.167.
Demonstrated leadership experience, which may include experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, or completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g., ELI or SLI).
Applicants who meet the experience requirements listed above will be further assessed on the following:
Comprehensive knowledge of current research and developments, trends, and programs in the field of risk assessment for those with a history of sexual offending.
Comprehensive knowledge of laws, rules, and policies to plan and develop programming to meet the needs of those with a history of sexual offending.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
Advanced degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or closely related field.
Knowledge of housing programs and residency restrictions and how those programs impact housing for those in transition.
Working knowledge of state and county probation/supervised release policies and agents.
Comprehensive knowledge of budget and grants processes, policies, and procedures sufficient to negotiate funding levels, prepare and justify budget, initiate financial agreements, and secure funds from local and other sources.

Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
