The Hardware Engineering team leads the design, development and production of hardware at Raytheon. We use state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and CORE principles. Hardware Engineering's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation.
The Precision Control Actuation Systems (PCAS) department is part of Hardware Engineering, and we are an engineering organization located in Tucson, AZ and Huntsville, AL. We develop new Control Actuation Systems (CAS) including Aerodynamic Tail Fin and Canard Steering Control Sections, Thrust Vector, Attitude and Divert Control Systems, Control Surface and Wing Deployment mechanisms, Stage Separation and Nosecone Ejection Systems, and more.
The PCAS department is seeking a strategic Engineering Department Leader with experience in CAS hardware, leading large teams, innovative process development, and program execution. Willingness to relocate to Tucson, AZ (relo package available)
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, lead and manage the Precision Control Actuation Systems (PCAS) Department including the following:
Lead continuous improvement of our People, Processes, Tools, and Products.
Close collaboration with the PCAS Technical Pyramid Chief Technologist on PCAS technology road maps and composability strategy. Partner together to propagate PCAS composability best practices and lessons learned to other hardware products.
Extensive collaboration with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, CPT and IPT Leads, and Discipline Managers to achieve business objectives
Ensuring compliance with all phases of the RLPM Gate processes for all PCAS related capture activities and programs to maximize business performance
Oversee planning and implementation of PCAS capital and expense; lab management and expansion in both Tucson, AZ and Huntsville, AL; as well as overhead funding necessary to execute a composable product portfolio.
Reviewing PCAS technical and cost proposals for accuracy and compliance to established metrics and technology roadmaps. Ensure proposals are appropriate staffed.
Monitor all EACs and Earned Value for PCAS related performance to ensure program execution meets or exceeds program execution expectations
Support business needs through appropriate hiring and staffing.
Ensure staff development through effective performance management including goal setting, individual develop plans, career development, training, and growth task assignments.
Provide guidance, coaching and leadership to Section Leaders for effective execution of the design and development process.
Support leadership alignment to define and achieve the strategic vision for the Sensors, Structures and Mechanisms Center and the Hardware Engineering organization.

Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Twelve (12) years engineering experience to include leadership roles with strong technical and management background
Experience in the technologies and design lifecycle of missile products
Experience in leading complex engineering teams driving technical and cost performance
Experience preparing both technical and cost proposals,

Qualifications We Prefer
Ability to gain access to closed areas
Education: Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree
Fourteen (14) years professional experience in aerospace industry; specializing in control actuation systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to influence senior leaders
Knowledge in mechanical sub-systems packaging, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development
Ability to build a collaborative network quickly that focuses on empowering employees, leading and motivating teams, and fostering collaboration
Extensive experience with Performance Development Process, talent management, program staffing
Extensive experience with technical and cost proposal development, technical risk management, and managing cost and schedule for program execution
Business acumen (e.g. creating EACs, EVMS principles), EVMS certification, PMX Level 6 certified
Recognized technical authority and experience developing and executing technical plans
Prior section leader experience, department leader experience, Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead experience

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
