Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Wentzville on a full-time basis.
The Role:
As a Manufacturing Engineer - Die & Process Lead, you will be responsible for both technical and administrative functions within the manufacturing environment. Operating within the framework of established organizational policies and standards, you will apply independent judgment to solve complex manufacturing challenges, particularly those involving root cause analysis and issue resolution. This role centers on the management and optimization of dies and die-related equipment critical to production. You may also be responsible for training team members and assigning tasks to a group of technical employees, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Analyze and implement die designs to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure seamless integration.
Propose and evaluate die-related processes within assigned areas to enhance performance and reliability.
Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of die-related manufacturing processes.
Maintain regular communication with cross-functional partners and ensure local leadership is informed of ongoing concerns.
Provide technical direction and mentorship to a small group of employees.
Monitor and evaluate expenditures related to dies, processes, and associated equipment.
Support Press/Die Room operations with technical expertise to improve performance and eliminate quality issues.
Ensure appropriate inventory levels and styles of repair parts are maintained to support die room operations.
Minimize obsolescence of dies, components, and repair parts through proactive lifecycle management.
Serve as liaison for shipping and receiving dies/components requiring major or emergency repairs or enhancements not feasible in-house.
Manage and track engineering change requests through to completion.
Oversee the setup, evaluation, and launch of new dies, ensuring readiness and performance standards are met.
Document and administer all related processes and procedures to ensure compliance and traceability.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
5 yrs of Manufacturing and/or Die Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis, reporting and presentation.
Experience with Ariba/SAP for procurement and resource planning.
Working knowledge of CAD/CAM systems for die design and process development.
