Koniag Information Technology Services (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an Enterprise Solutions Architect to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires on-site presence in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Enterprise Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing and maintaining comprehensive enterprise architecture solutions that align with strategic objectives and adhere to DoD standards. This on-site role will focus on developing comprehensive enterprise solution architectures for the Army Materiel Command (AMC) using the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with enterprise architecture development, communications architecture, and strategic IT planning within DoD environments.
Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide architecture support using the latest approved version of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
Ensure compliance with officially published Army and DoD policies, guidance, and regulations
Develop and maintain a Communications Architecture to effectively visualize the AMC communications enterprise
Design and document comprehensive Enterprise Solution Architectures that address complex business and technical requirements
Provide expert input into strategic and technical planning efforts for enterprise initiatives
Develop baseline architectures that accurately represent current systems and capabilities
Create target architectures that align with strategic objectives and technology roadmaps
Design sequencing plans that enable effective transition from baseline to target architectures
Support established Enterprise Solution Architecture Programs across the organization
Develop, track, and report program metrics and performance indicators to measure architectural effectiveness
Identify potential program risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
Coordinate and facilitate program meetings with stakeholders at all levels
Develop and maintain comprehensive program documentation for architecture initiatives
Ensure architecture products are compliant with DoDAF standards and guidelines
Create architecture models that effectively communicate complex systems and relationships
Provide architectural guidance for enterprise solutions implementation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure architectural alignment
Evaluate emerging technologies for potential integration into the enterprise architecture
Develop architectural approaches that promote interoperability and integration
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solutions architecture, or related role
Extensive experience with DoDAF and enterprise architecture methodologies
Proven track record developing enterprise solution architectures
Experience with communications architecture in complex environments
Knowledge of DoD and Army IT policies, guidance, and regulations
Required Skills and Competencies:
Expert knowledge of DoDAF methodologies, viewpoints, and implementation
Extensive experience developing communications architectures for enterprise environments
Demonstrated ability to design comprehensive enterprise solution architectures
Experience with strategic IT planning and technology roadmapping
Strong skills in architecture modeling and documentation
Proficiency in developing baseline architectures, target architectures, and transition plans
Experience developing and tracking architecture program metrics
Strong risk management skills for identifying and mitigating program risks
Excellent facilitation skills for coordinating program meetings with diverse stakeholders
Advanced documentation abilities for maintaining complex program artifacts
Deep understanding of enterprise systems integration and interoperability concepts
Experience aligning architecture with business objectives and strategic initiatives
Knowledge of IT governance frameworks and processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Understanding of IT service management principles and practices
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
Willingness to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Master's degree in a relevant technical field
Professional architecture certifications (TOGAF, DoDAF, etc.)
Experience working with Army or DoD architecture initiatives
Knowledge of AMC's mission, structure, and IT landscape
Proficiency with architecture modeling tools (Sparx EA, IBM Rational, etc.)
Experience with cloud architecture and implementation strategies
Background in service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles
Knowledge of cybersecurity architecture and zero trust principles
Experience with IT portfolio management and governance
Background in data architecture and information management
Experience with agile architecture methodologies
Understanding of business process modeling and optimization
Knowledge of network architecture principles and practices
Experience leading architecture teams or initiatives
Background in solution architecture for mission-critical systems
