ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR)

Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (NEPD) of PSNS and IMF. Responsibilities You will contact planning yards, prime contractors, NAVSEA, or other technical authorities and propose alternative methods and solutions, if existing requirements cannot be met. You will develop process improvements that improve reliability, safety, work flow, cost, and schedule performance. You will evaluate critical attributes of assigned nuclear work and perform risk assessments. You will prepare quality and detailed written technical direction to accomplish nuclear work from cradle to grave. You will observe execution of nuclear work and provide on-site technical support. You will provide written technical direction to resolve deficiencies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and interpreting technical engineering work documents to assist in identifying nuclear material and resolving nuclear material deficiencies in support of ship or submarine repair or conversion projects.
